The Soundcraft SM20 is a professional, 20 buss monitor console designed for large scale sound reinforcement monitor mixing. 20 output buses establish the flexibility necessary to achieve stereo or mono feeds for wedges or in-ear monitor systems, while remaining cost effective and compact. The consoles are available in 32, 40, 48 and 56 channel frames to accommodate any application, this model is configured with 40 input channels. All output buses are configurable for both mono and stereo paired operation, buss sends 1 through 6 are dedicated mono while 7 through 18 are available for stereo or mono operation. Output sends 19 and 20 are reserved for stereo master output and can be configured for mono or stereo operation as well.

The innovative SM20 features integral MIDI remote control over outboard EQ settings via the BSS-FPC 900 remote control unit. The control enables monitor engineers to accurately edit EQ parameters without leaving the consoles central mixing position. Commonplace in all Soundcraft consoles, sound quality remains the SM20's stand-out feature with balanced XLR connections throughout, 4-band sweepable EQ with 2 parametric mid-range controls and RF interference rejecting circuitry.
