PAYMENTS & SECURITY

GearSource.com is a Global Marketplace and accepts bank transfers and most major credit cards. GearSource has once again rebuilt our secure platform to allow our Buyers to be even more confident that their information is very safe and to get our Sellers paid out immediately.

Effective November 15, 2023, the GearSource Payments System is powered by Airwallex, a multi-national financial technology (fintech) company and software as a service (SaaS). Their cloud-native platform has been built to take the friction out of our global payments and financial operations. Unlike our previous payment service providers, Airwallex will give us the security, speed, simplicity, and savings to seamlessly operate across borders.

Here's how it works:

  1. Buyer finds the items they are looking for, add it to the cart and checks out
  2. Shipping, fees, and taxes are applied by the automated system. If Shipping costs are not calculating automatically due to the complexity of the order or the destination, our logistics team will immediately step in and get a shipping price, update the order and notify the Buyer
  3. Buyer pays for the order using their preferred payment method of credit card (for orders less than $5000) or bank transfer in their currency of origin or preference; 
  4. When the payment clears and settles in the Marketplace Payment Center, the funds are distributed by the Payment System automatically. -- credit card payments take 2 additional banking days to clear, from the time the transaction is recorded by the payment system; -- bank transfers take 24-48 banking hours, depending on the country of origin; -- ACH payments can take 3-7 banking days to clear.
  5. Once payments clear and settle, the Marketplace fees and taxes are distributed to GearSource, the Shipping fees (if not handled by the seller) are distributed to the Carrier, and the Seller's remaining payout is distributed to the Seller's secure Wallet for release when the terms of their Tier Agreement are met.
  6. All timelines referenced are estimates and are subject to change due to disruptions that are outside our control, such as: banking holidays, shipping delays, inspections and claims. International timelines are typically 2-3 times longer than domestic (US-based) transactions.  

Note: If required, payments that have to be converted from one currency to another are done so at the foreign exchange rate captured at the time of the payment. Once the funds clear, the Seller's funds are moved to their "Wallet" and held until the order reaches the payout threshold, at which point it automatically releases and sends the payout by local bank transfer to the seller's account. GearSource is not responsible for any fees or exchange discrepancies due to conversions. 

All orders paid by credit card are charged a 3% processing fee at time of checkout. Due to the higher-risk and the higher fees associated with credit cards, the maximum order amount that can be paid by credit card is $5000. Special requests will be considered on an order-by-order basis but are not guaranteed. All such requests must be pre-approved by the Company's Finance Manager.

All credit card data is protected by TLS, which refers to the process of securely transmitting data between you the Buyer and our server.

What TLS does:

  • Encrypt and verify the integrity of traffic between the customer and our server

  • Verify that the customer is communicating with the correct server. In practice, this usually means verifying that the owner of the domain (GearSource) and the owner of the server are the same entity.

All information provided to complete your payment is protected by the GearSource Privacy Policy and meets all current world-wide Privacy and Security regulations. GearSource and it’s staff have no access to your secure information. Please review the Privacy Policy for more information.
